A comprehensive view. You will look into the historical backgrounds of psychology, as well as its current perspectives, theories, and research methods. You will also consider various mental and personality disorders (including depression, schizophrenia, eating disorders, and psychopathic behaviors) and explore the etiology, treatment, and outcome for each. The course concludes with a look at the legal and ethical issues surrounding psychological treatment for individuals, including voluntary and involuntary commitment.
