Independent Learning (IL) transcripts are FREE when sent via regular mail. Additional costs apply for expedited overnight mailing requests.
Transcript orders, including overnights, are processed on Tuesdays and Fridays, excluding holidays.
- For transcripts to be mailed on Tuesday, the request must be received no later than 2PM CT on Monday.
- For transcripts to be mailed on Friday, the request must be received no later than 2PM CT on Thursday.
NOTE: Requests received after these deadlines are processed on the next Tuesday or Friday.
Transcript processing will vary on the following dates:

- Friday, November 29, 2024 – no transcripts will be sent. All requests, including overnight requests, received after 2pm central time on Monday, November 25th will be processed on Tuesday, December 3rd.
- December 23-27, 2024 – transcripts will be processed on Monday December 23rd for requests and grades received by 10am central time. Transcripts will not be processed December 24-27. All requests, including overnights, received after 10am on December 23rd will be processed on Monday December 30th.
- December 30, 2024-January 3, 2025 – transcripts will be processed on Monday December 30th for requests and grades received by 10am central time. Transcripts will not be processed December 31-January 3. All requests, including overnights, received after 10am on December 30th will be processed on Tuesday January 7th.
- IL transcripts include completed coursework and final grades only.
- IL transcripts are NOT sent electronically or by email.
- Expedited overnight mail requests are nonrefundable.
Overnight Mailing Requests
Overnight mail requests are $20 per recipient and are processed on Tuesdays and Fridays only, excluding holidays. Expedited overnight mail requests are nonrefundable.
Overnight shipping is NOT available to the following addresses:
- UW-Madison Offices
- P.O. Boxes
- International
Do NOT request overnight mailing for addresses listed above. Requests for overnight service to the address types listed above will be sent via regular mail and your payment will NOT be refunded.
Transcript Request Process
- Log in to your Student Account and go to the Courses section.
- Click “Request Transcript” to complete the Transcript Request form.
- For expedited overnight mailing requests, you can securely submit your payment.
This video guides you through requesting a transcript online from your Student Account. If you cannot access your Student Account, create a new account here. This will assist with future transcript requests or course registrations.
Alternative Ordering Process (paper form): If you cannot access your Student Account or prefer to submit your request via email, fax, or mail, complete the paper Transcript Request Form. Follow the submission instructions included. For overnight service, review the Overnight Transcript Payment Form and follow the payment submission instructions provided. DO NOT submit credit card information by email.
